Principal

Spencer was incredibly proud to assume ownership of Brown Benefits in 2024. Joining the business in 2014, he embraced and appreciated being mentored by his father, Don.

Spencer graduated from UBC Okanagan with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees, and thoroughly enjoyed his time as a member of the UBCO Heat. Spencer held the unique distinction of being UBC Okanagan’s only student to compete for two varsity teams (soccer & volleyball) from 2008-2012.

Thoughtful, analytical & sincere, Spencer welcomes each opportunity to educate business owners on the nuances of benefits plans and individuals on insurance. A natural communicator, he values relationships over any transaction. Spencer’s calm, steady approach makes him dependable and straightforward to work with.

Spencer has volunteered in various roles with the Penticton & Wine Country and Summerland Chambers of Commerce. Brown Benefits is quick to sponsor sports teams, and Spencer & family are grateful to sponsor a family each holiday season.

A dedicated father & husband, Spencer keeps busy with his three young children. Spencer strives to maintain an active lifestyle, and is fond of playing golf, soccer & hockey. Spencer appreciates great films & television, podcasts and an engaging book.

Don Brown

Don entered the Financial Services industry in 1998 after over a decade in retail management. He originally relocated to the Okanagan to open the valley’s first Sport Chek location. Growing up in Vancouver, Don’s father Don Sr. was a Mutual Life of Canada advisor for over forty years.

Don strives to build trusting, positive relationships with business owners and individuals. He enjoys empowering clients by personalizing benefits plans that help retain valuable employees, while boosting productivity and employee wellness in the workplace. Don’s optimistic attitude and considerate communication style help put clients at ease.

Don spent over 20 years as an exclusive marketing agent for the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan. He was regularly recognized for marketing excellence and high service standards.

Don has spent endless hours volunteering with local soccer clubs in both Kelowna & West Kelowna. He enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors for the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber for several years.

A work-life balance advocate, Don maintains a highly active lifestyle. He plays soccer, hockey, and is an avid golfer. Don is a proud husband, father, and papa, enjoying quality family time.
